Letters and fancy words like, Yellow bricks of followed gold, To the city shining bright above, On the hill unfolds. Intellect is much like this, Not a one facet to be defined, Such is the key, dear one, To my literary mind. A year later... Update time

I didn't realize it's been a year since I've really done anything here so I'd like to update everyone on what I've been doing in my absence. :) In the past year I have: > Graduated college. (Without much fanfare because My dad got sick the summer before my senior year and has a harder time traveling now.) English major with a minor in Pedagogy (IE the teaching thing didn't work out so well. > Gotten three jobs and phased out of two.   > Moved from my parental home into an apartment with my fiance, in another state. > I have slowly within the past 7 months been rebuilding my social life from scratch and now have a few friends

I didn't expect my poem "I'm sorry, but..." to be that big of a hit. To those who added it to their favorites or collections, I say thank you. I didn't realize some many would connect with it and the people that are in my daily life such didn't appreciate the message or the skill. Thank you all for the love. It's very encouraging.

I'm doing alright. No, I haven't had them out yet. (Unexpected delays, because we didn't realize exactly how they were situated.) I do have a consult this Friday with an oral surgeon back home though so with any luck that will go well. How have you been?

I hope your consult with the oral surgeon went well.

I've been doing okay. Every year April seems like the busiest time of the school year, as it's the last full month of spring semester and anything that hasn't been done by then has to get done or else, and I'm sensing that this April will be no different! I've already been asked to attend or help with several "special events" in the next 3-4 weeks, on top of the normal work for my classes and committees and everything.

For now I'm enjoying the long weekend we get for Easter (we were off today and we're off again on Monday). I spent most of today relaxing, and I have a few errands to run tomorrow, but I also have some papers waiting to be graded. And I got a call from an ex-girlfriend who is back in town to visit her parents for the holiday, and she asked about getting together. We haven't seen each other since the break-up, so I'm curious about how that will go if we manage to meet up.

The other day I actually was talking to a Wingate student; 4 years ago she had come to campus the same day I met you, when you came for a campus visit, and realized that she's set to graduate this May. It doesn't seem like that was 4 years ago already! But I've noticed that the 4 years any student is in school can seem to fly by from my perspective. Are you going to graduate this year also? (It actually took me 5 years to get my bachelor's degree...)
